A woman in her 60s has been killed and another seriously injured after a stabbing at a house in east London.

A 28-year-old man, who knows both victims, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and grievous bodily harm.

Police were called to Auriel Avenue in Dagenham just after 9.30pm on Sunday in what they called “a truly shocking incident”.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the other woman, in her 30s, was taken to hospital. Her condition isn’t life threatening.

Metropolitan Police Detective Superintendent Richard Vandenbergh said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
