A couple were left stunned when Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves made a surprise appearance at their wedding reception in Northamptonshire.

Nikki and James Roadnight got married at Fawsley Hall hotel last weekend.

After the ceremony, the groom spotted Reeves in the bar and approached him to tell him he had just got married and ask if he would like to join the party.

It turned out the Matrix star was staying at the hotel on the same night as them, Mrs Roadnight told Newsweek.

Reeves, 57, said he was tied up but promised to drop in later.

Doubting whether he would reappear, a few hours later a member of staff informed the bride and groom they had a “very special guest”.

At that point, Reeves re-emerged and began chatting with the couple.

He declined the offer of a drink, saying he was tired from travelling, but was happy to have his photo taken with them.

“It was all very exciting and I went to say hi and introduce myself, and I offered him a drink but he declined that and said he’d just had a long flight so wouldn’t stay long but he was so kind and friendly and congratulated us on our wedding,” Mrs Roadnight told Newsweek.

She posted some of the images on Twitter, with the comment: “Had the most amazing weekend!!”

On Facebook she told friends he was “so nice”.

The night before he was spotted by local residents at a nearby pub, The Fox and Hounds in Charwelton.

According to reports he “had a few whiskies” and was happy to pose with customers.

Hollywood star a frequent wedding crasher

Reeves, who also starred in the John Wick film franchise, has crashed weddings before.

In 2018 he took a picture with a couple getting hitched at the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz California, before photobombing someone else’s big day in New York later that year.

Last month he captured fans’ hearts with an interaction he had at New York’s John F Kennedy Airport.

According to TV producer Andrew Kimmel, who documented the exchange on social media, a little boy asked him a “series of rapid fire questions” as he was boarding a flight to London.

Mr Kimmel said he “happily responded to every single one”, adding: “Little moments like this can make such a difference in people’s lives.”
