Rapper Wavy Navy Pooh has been fatally shot while reportedly “driving with two children and a woman” in Miami.

The 25-year-old rapper, whose real name is Shandler Beaubien, was shot while he was driving a car near Zoo Miami, Florida’s largest zoo, on Friday night, according to the Miami Herald.

The news outlet said a one-year-old boy, a five-year-old boy and an adult woman were in the back seat when the incident took place, but they were unharmed.

Police said shots were fired from a grey Lexus car, which fled the scene.

Miami-Dade Police Public Information Officer Alvaro Zabaleta said: “Once officers arrived is when they discovered in a Toyota four door that the driver was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

“Once fire rescue responded, they were able to pronounce the driver deceased here on the scene.

“The victim, in this case, was at the intersection of 152 Street and 127th Avenue getting ready to make a right to go eastbound on 152 Street when an unknown vehicle, a Lexus approached him from the driver’s side and opened fire and then fled westbound.”

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the man who was shot.

However, Mr Beaubien’s record label, Quality Control Music, confirmed his death in an Instagram post earlier today.

They posted a picture of the rapper dressed in a tuxedo with the caption: “Wavy Navy Pooh. Rest In Peace. 1997-2022.”

They also wrote underneath the picture: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the loss of one of our beloved artists, Wavy Navy Pooh.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.”

Mr Beaubien, from Brownsville, Texas, was most famous for his song M.I.A.M.I. (Murder is a Major Issue).

In the music video for the song, he was seen waving a gun and and actual footage of Miami-Dade police officers at a real-life shooting were also featured.

The rapper was also shot in May 2020 and was injured in his thigh and leg.

At the time, he reportedly told police that he fired back in self-defence when a person in a passing car suddenly opened fire on him and a group of other people at a house nearby.
